Change becomes real
when people feel it.

The Arise Africa Social Arm meets communities where they are—listening first, serving with dignity and helping people build the confidence to shape public life.

Dignity is built close to home.

Community work is not a campaign photograph. It is the sustained discipline of listening, learning, acting, following up and reporting honestly. The Social Arm connects individual dignity to stronger, more cohesive communities.

01 · Young voices

The Chilumbo Initiative

Use debate, public speaking and age-appropriate civic learning to help children and young people understand citizenship, express ideas and disagree constructively.

02 · Belonging

Refugee and community integration

Build on work with Nairobi City County, peace ambassadors and communities to give refugees a safe landing and support contribution to host communities and countries of origin.

03 · Participation

Civic education and public dialogue

Grow university, school and community civic education through forums, salons, house meetings and accessible explanations of rights, responsibilities and public institutions.

04 · Service

Community action

Organise clean-ups, locally relevant service days, youth activities, food support and practical issue campaigns with clear owners, consent and public reporting.

05 · Rights

Human dignity and protection

Support human-rights education, anti-FGM work, peacebuilding and responsible referral of vulnerable people to competent institutions.

06 · Work

Workers and community livelihoods

Listen to workers' groups and unions, strengthen lawful advocacy and connect recurring livelihood concerns to the movement's wider policy work.

How this arm must work.

Shared purpose does not remove accountability. Each arm needs a clear mandate, responsible owners, protected records and work that can withstand public scrutiny.

Listen before acting

Record the lived issue with consent, location and evidence before deciding what the arm can responsibly do.

Service without conditions

Relief, training and community support are never exchanged for votes, membership or public endorsement.

Safeguard people

Protect children, refugees and vulnerable participants through appropriate permissions, data minimisation and trained supervision.

Built honestly,
in public view.

This page distinguishes work already established from the governance, safeguards and institutional choices still being developed.

Established direction

What already anchors the arm

  • Chilumbo debate, public-speaking and civic-learning activity in schools.
  • University civic education, including the Technical University of Kenya engagement.
  • Participation in Nairobi's refugee-integration and community-building work in Embakasi Central and West.
Being formalised

What still requires a decision

  • A programme charter, leadership structure and independent outcome measures.
  • Child-safeguarding, school-partnership and volunteer-screening standards.
  • A protected community casework and referral process separate from electoral mobilisation.

Come ready to listen, serve and leave a community stronger.
